Spring 2014 update

1/4/2014

A big improvement in the online booking software has necessitated a rethink about how SAS website users get there. Past events and future events get their own pages, allowing all future events, including CPD, to appear alongside briefings and conferences together.

Provisional dates for 2014-15 are now accessible. This includes some of my thinking about future CPD and this information is offered to help avoid duplication. It would be helpful if you could also let me know of opportunities you have ‘in the pipeline’. It may be that SAS can fund such training, subject to the following principles agreed at the management meeting on 01/04/2014;

·        SAS will promote any event that you have running, in order to help you fill empty places and achieve value for money.

·        SAS will only subsidise courses that are simultaneously made available to ALL SAS member schools – i.e. through SAS CPD.

·        SAS will continue to support your needs, so keep coming back with your ideas for CPD.

Members can now log in and read previous Management Meeting Minutes and financial information related to SAS.

Roll-out of Summer CPD

28/4/2013

Last week the (nearly complete) roll out of Summer CPD was promoted via email to Heads and CPD Leads. In order to take on some 'special offers' and price reductions, there is more CPD packed into this term than previously available (and the term is longer!) I've committed more than 1 third of the annual budget for this term and hope that the remainder of the year contains no financial 'surprises'. I've also secured a grant and some courses 'for free' in order to stetch the investment that schools have made in the Association. For the first time there's something for Parents & Carers too, since my understanding is that the e-safety evenings tend to be poorly attended when held by individual schools. Hopefully there's anonymity in a central venue, and even if only a few attend from each school, together we could be a big crowd. I hope that schools continue to find something of use to their staff and communities, and wish everyone the best for the Summer Term.

 Supplementary update -   25th January 2013

23/1/2013

It was good to see so many at the last briefing. The 'landscape' is changing fast and the day was packed, so there was no time to share in the developments of SAS. An email has been distributed with the missed CPD / Website presentation attached, detailing how members can access the restricted pages. It has also been uploaded to the 'Downloads' section.

Amongst our members do we have an expert in the implimentaion of wesbite 'cookie' software, since I suspect there is more to be done and I'm at the limit of my expertise. If so please get in touch.

Finally I'm still after offers of venues for CPD events. Do let me know if you are willing to host a half or whole day.

Thanks,
Paul

Update - January 2013

18/1/2013

It's taken a while, but we are finally here, with a secure website and certain 'privilages' that makes membership even more attractive. I hope the forum will become active and by making the downloads available to members, Lead Speakers can share their resources with us with greater confidence that they are not doing themselves out of a job!

Coming very soon, a domain name to match your school - sas.gloucs.sch.uk, and therefore the web address www.sas.gloucs.sch.uk

I've added a section where Heads can list SDP priorities. Purely optional, the information published allows for the possibility of schools providing mutual support where similar needs or ambitions exist.

Also going 'live' - the booking lists, so you can check whether you did get booked on a course, and perhaps even find a friend with whom you can car-share!

Do use the feedback forms to suggest how we can continue to meet member's needs.

Happy New Year,
Paul

'Live!'

The website is now live - hurrah! Many thanks to Sandy (via Whitminster C of E Primary) who got the ball rolling. Already one Head Teacher has asked "Where do I find...?" and navigation was instantly improved! Let me know what isn't working, and what your CPD needs might be this year - there's usually a pattern!

Please comment on how it's looking, what else you feel we might need!
I've thrown in a 'wanted' section in the forum. Perhaps you can help, or you want to ask a question where two heads would be better than one? Thanks for the messages of support,
Paul
